The Financial Direct Support Professional (FDSP) assesses and analyzes life circumstances and financial capabilities to provide assistance and services to agency participants; verifies collateral information and determines the eligibility for multiple social service programs. The FDSP responds to public inquiries regarding programs and benefits for the participants supported at Valiant Living. The FDSP interprets rules, regulations, and policies to ensure appropriate benefits and services are provided to participants in an effective and expedient manner to promote self-sufficiency, so the highest quality of life is afforded the participants who are supported by Valiant Living. This is a non-exempt position.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The FDSP provides financial oversight services and establishes effective working relationships with participants, their families/guardians, and other social service personnel, public officials, and private citizens. The FDSP has knowledge of public assistance programs, objectives, and underlying causes of economic deprivation while maintaining case files, financial records, and computer database systems for assigned cases. This position gathers and reviews documentation regarding suspected fraud, makes a determination if fraud occurred, recommends appropriate action, and represents the department at administrative hearings to substantiate claims.

SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday 6:30 am -12:30 pm. 6:30 am – 9:00 am at one of the residential homes providing supports for morning routine and transportation to Day Services. 9:00 am – 12:30 pm providing financial assistance to people supported in their Day Services setting.

SALARY: $18.00 to $19.00 per hour, dependent on education and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree and/or experience in business management/office management preferred

Demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Word and Excel.

Attention to detail

Self-starter who requires minimal supervision

Able to read, write and speak the English language

Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, staff, families and other customers verbally and in writing

Displays cooperative, supportive and positive conduct, and presents self as an effective role model in representing Valiant Living

Valid driver license and must be insurable by the agency insurance carrier

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

Meet training requirements in accordance with Federal, State and local standards, as well as Valiant Living policies and procedures

Ability to solve practical problems, deal with a variety of situations and make sound judgements

Acceptable background check as defined by regulations and policies
