ECCO, Inc. changes name to Valiant Living
It is my pleasure to announce this week that ECCO, Inc. will officially be changing its name to Valiant Living.
To live a truly meaningful life you often have to step outside your comfort zone and be brave in the face of change and the unknown. The people we serve, and our employees, have chosen to live a Valiant Life, a life of stretching boundaries, helping others and making a difference every day. Things that may have seemed impossible are not out of reach, whether that is living away from home, working in a real job, or countless other things. Our employees have the possibility of a rewarding career helping others. The “Bluebirds of Happiness” in motion tells the story of happier lives, soaring above challenges and taking the leap to independence. The sky is the limit!
ECCO, Inc. was established as East Central Career Opportunities in 1974 and served four people. It was operated by a group of volunteers from the Dakota State University Special Education Department. We were formally incorporated in 1975, and in 1976 our name was changed to Every Citizen Counts Organization (ECCO). We currently serve 61 people and employ 65 staff. Our services include evaluation, residential and supported living services, vocational training, and special education transitional services.
We will continue to strive to provide the best services to our most important customers – the people we support and their families! With over 40 years of presence in the community of Madison, we look forward to continued growth and service to people who have disabilities. As always, we will uphold our presence in Madison by helping to stimulate the local economy where we live, work and enjoy our free time. All will stay the same as far as day-to-day operations.
